The Christian Counselling Course is the brainchild of Revd Nezlin Sterling whose main aim is to equip and empower Christians who are called to the ministry of counselling, and in particular Church leaders who are strategically placed to counsel and offer support as an integral part of their ministry.
This highly acclaimed Course is a timely response to the increasing number of hurting, distressed and depressed persons in our churches and in our communities, who need to be helped through counselling to spiritual, emotional, physical and mental wholeness.
Founded on the words of Jesus, "The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor, He has sent me to heal the broken hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed; to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord" St Luke 4 v 18-19 (NKJV). The Course Director makes no apology for its Christian distinctiveness whilst appropriating and synchronising relevant contemporary theories.
The Christian Counselling course was established in 1997 and is taught at Higher Education. Since its inception 14 successive courses have been completed boosting a total of over 250 graduates with many at diploma level. The University of Wales Lampeter in 1998 validated the course. The curriculum is comprehensive and balanced. Students will find it challenging, empowering and fulfilling. Each course is based on sound Theological principles and biblical insights. They are Christ-centred and educationally unique in promoting a sound knowledge and skill base in Christian counselling.
The Christian Counselling Course is an inspirational, interactive, experiential biblically based course. It provides training in counselling which is academically and professionally recognised. The approach is comprehensive and integrative, and incorporates current contemporary theories. It is intellectually stimulating and invigorating and you will develop your counselling skills through role play and group work.
