ABOUT ITCC

The Institute of Theology & Christian Counselling (ITCC) previously known as the Institute of Christian Training genesis dates back to 1979. The Institute acquired validation for its Higher Education Certificate and Diploma programmes from the University of Wales-Lampeter Open Learning Theology Department in 1986, and now works with the University of Winchester offering Levels 4 and 5 programmes in Applied Theology, Church Management and Leadership and Pastoral Care & Christian Counselling.

The programmes encourage contextual learning, in which the experience of the participants is brought into interaction with the curriculum. Through this process, understanding and knowledge, skills and spirituality, are developed in a way which draws on both the disciplines of study and the practical experience of participants. Insights from a variety of cultures, from both women and men, are provided and valued. Links across modules, both explicit and implicit, are sought. The contributions of associated disciplines are welcomed and encouraged. The Institute has encouraged high standards in critical thinking and theological discourse with success, and will continue to build on present achievements.

ITCC works collaboratively with Black Majority Churches (BMCs) and through these relationships students are drawn from a wide pool of churches including the Historical churches.
Bishop Greaves, National Presiding Bishop, comments on the Institute and its aims: “ITCC is a well structured academic institution that offers programmes that are designed to inspire, strengthen, and further increase spiritual wisdom, biblical knowledge, instil new skills and propel students towards achieving their spiritual and professional aspirations.”

“The Institute, the training arm of the New Testament Assembly, says Revd Delroy Powell, Chaplain, “has kept abreast with contemporary training methods and developments in the field of education. Lectures are well researched and professionally delivered with excellent outcomes. I am committed to give the Institute my full support”

ITCC is committed to providing education of the highest achievable quality and relevance for the 21st century students.
